Building seam tape joins and seals the overlaps of housewrap, vapor barrier, and membrane sheets on site—see building seam tape. Seam sealing tape is a hot-melt, heat-applied tape bonded over stitched seams in jackets, tents, and outdoor gear—see seam sealing tape. Carpet seam tape joins two carpet edges from underneath—see carpet seam tape.
Window and door openings usually take flashing tape rather than seam tape; for butyl rubber sealant on RV, metal roofing, and automotive seams, see butyl tape. Hot-melt seam sealing tape applied with heat over stitched seams in jackets, tents, bags, and workwear. Layer structure, width, color, and the fabric it bonds to go on the RFQ; bond and wash behavior are checked on your fabric at sample stage.

Seam Tape FAQ
What is seam tape?
Seam tape is a name for several products: building seam tape for housewrap and vapor barrier overlaps, hot-melt seam sealing tape for garments and outdoor gear, and carpet seam tape for joining carpet. AeroTape quotes all three—tell us which on the RFQ.
Seam tape vs flashing tape?
Building seam tape seals the flat overlaps of wrap and membrane sheets. Flashing tape is a membrane-backed tape for window, door, and roof openings where water is directed away from the frame.
Seam tape vs butyl tape?
Butyl tape is a thick butyl rubber sealant used on RV, metal roofing, and automotive seams. Building seam tape is a thinner single-sided film tape for wrap and barrier overlaps.
Is seam sealing tape the same as carpet seam tape?
No. Seam sealing tape is heat-bonded over stitched fabric seams in garments and gear. Carpet seam tape joins carpet edges from below. They go on separate SKUs.
Do you publish waterproof or code ratings for seam tape?
No. Performance depends on the membrane, fabric, or carpet backing and how it is applied. List any test reports your customer needs and ask for a documentation pack—documents on request, no claim by default.
What is the MOQ for wholesale seam tape?
MOQ is quoted by SKU and depends on construction, width, color, and packing. Seam tape can share a PO with other specialty rolls—start from tape wholesale or the inquiry form.
